Surfing
Some might say surfing is like riding a bike… where I beg to differ is in the fact that I’m never actually afraid to get back on my bike. Surfing is one of those sports where confidence plays a huge role, and if you don’t do it for (let’s say) 2 years, you lose some. Well, folks, I’m here to tell you that after the initial jitters of paddling out, I remember how to surf, and I still LOVE it!!! I was so thankful to get some epic surf sessions with family! (July 2023)
Early morning drive to the ocean with my dad and sister Chelsey - my two favorite people to surf with.
Reminds me of the good ol’ days at Point Loma Nazarene University when we used to paddle out together and all the guys in the line up would holler, “SISTER SURF!”
Me, Chelsey, my uncle Dave, my dad and our friend Frank. C Street in Ventura did not disappoint.
He taught us both how to surf when we were just little whippersnappers.
And drum roll please… an old fashioned glazed donut from the best donut shop in Ventura - Good Time Donut by Vons on East Harbor Blvd.
Tradition. Starbucks and donut shop after a good surf session.
Then we visited my uncle and aunt’s new doggie, Bixby. A chocolate lab full of love and wiggles.
Another session at C Street. Yes, I love very confused. No, that is not my board. My dad shreds on that fluorescent baby.
I was trying not to fall down the cliff.
There’s the board I rode. What a beauty!!!
Happy me!
My dad and Uncle Dave.
Last surf session together for probably 2-3 more years…. waaaaaaaaa! (enter crying emoji)
The grand finale - we even got my cousin Patrick in on the action.
I hope you enjoyed coming surfing with me! I’m so thankful for my family and for the fun we have in God’s incredible waves!
