February Reflection

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m really enjoying these reflection posts. As I’ve mentioned before, I receive monthly emails from Emily P. Freeman, who has a podcast (that I follow) and a book called The Next Right Thing (that I just finished reading, highly recommend it by the way!). Here we go with the 3 questions for February.

1) Name something newly important to you.

2) What was a moment of heartache in February?

3) What’s something you look forward to in March?

1) Something newly important to me.

Having live plants and flowers in my house and on the balcony. Me and plants or flowers have never been the best of friends. I often either neglected them or gave them too much attention (over watering, anyone?). Thus, we would part ways, and it didn’t really bother me too much. But for some reason, I have recently started caring… go figure. Anyway, I’ve successfully kept an IKEA indoor plant alive and healthy for 3 years now! Woohoo! I have a few plants on the balcony that are…. get this…. still alive! Haha! My mother-in-law just gave me this gorgeous Anthurium above (I had to look up that name by typing “tropical indoor red flower” - thanks google). I love it! (Thank you Nancy!) I have a few other plants as well, and I’m looking forward to continuing a life with live plants and flowers in it. It brings me joy.

2) A moment of heartache in February.

This month, along with January, has brought grief for some friends of ours at church. Six people at church lost one of their parents; one lost her son. It is tragic. I cried many times while praying for them, sending them messages, voice messages, cards... Life and health really are blessings for which we should thank the Lord. My heart grieves with my friends in their loss. [Photo by Karim MANJRA on Unsplash]

3) Something I look forward to in March.

I look forward to something changing for the better. I’m not sure what that will be. But I’m really rooting for something hopeful. March 17th will mark one year of when we went into strict confinement here in France. I’m really flabbergasted that a year later, we are still wearing masks. But, I will say this. Thank the Lord I didn’t know how long this was going to last from the get go. Hahaha. And it seems like we’ve still got quite a road ahead of us… but hey, cheers to something changing this month for the better! Even if it be small. Let’s look for it and rejoice! Above, Daphné and I enjoy the ever-changing winter seascape with our sandy toes.

I hope you took some time to reflect on these questions for your own life. It has become such a healing practice for me. And, like I often say, it is a way to see that the God of the Universe is control, even if we don’t see it or understand it. He is. He’s God. I love Him. He loves me. He loves you.
