Favorite 2020 Accomplishments

Hello everyone, in my series of favorites from 2020, I had mentioned that I was going to share my favorite accomplishments from 2020. We all accomplished so much in 2020, didn’t we? It might not seem like it, but we did. Even things like scheduling and following-through with necessary surgeries, like my umbilical hernia surgery in February 2020 and Django’s tonsillectomy surgery in July 2020. Cheers! =)

You became home school moms. You worked from home in less-than-ideal circumstances. You had to be creative with celebrations : birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and even memorials and funerals. You had to make money stretch after perhaps losing a job. You “went to church” online. You went on intentional walks around the neighborhood to enjoy some fresh air beyond the walls of your ever-shrinking home. You deep cleaned. You got rid of excess belongings in your home. You learned a new skill. You continued your education online. You graduated high school or university without a traditional ceremony. You read books. You slowed down and focused on what really matters.

HI FIVE !!! I’m proud of you. Really. And I’m proud of me, too. And now, I’d love to share two things that I am proud to have accomplished in 2020 (in addition to being a wife and mama and pastor’s wife… 3 of the best accomplishments I could ever dream). With each of these things, I want to first thank the Lord for providing the time and resources.

1) I became a certified gospel-centered enneagram coach.

My friend Denae, who is also a pastor’s wife and missionary also living in a European country (Italy), introduced me to the enneagram in March 2019. Ever since, it’s hard to express the impact it has had in my life. It has given me an understanding of why I think, react and behave in the ways I do. It’s not to use as an excuse, but it’s a way to better live as the child of God that I am, beloved and cherished. I am so thankful for Beth and Jeff McCord and their investment in creating this program. Below is part of the email I received after passing my exam.

What to do with this is now my next prayer. I have been able to use it to help a few friends in their growth in their specific type. Will I become and official coach? Will I just use it on the side? Will I translate it into French to use it more with the church here? Is it for the continued growth in our marriage (which has been a HUGE blessing for me and Tonio)? Will it just be something that continues to spur me on to be the best Lindsey God created me to be? A combination of some of these? I don’t know yet, and that’s okay. Learn more about the enneagram here.

2) I took voice lessons.

It is true that I sing already and have led worship for many years, but I needed and need help. This class was so fun. There were 3 of us and the teacher. We only had 5 sessions before the center closed down because of Covid, but I look forward to signing up again one of these days when it opens up. My teacher, Muriel, was wonderful! She is trained in opera, and she does such a good job communicating how to breathe and project and support the vocal chords. I really hope I can sing again with her.

Voilà, I sure you hope you enjoyed reading this. I encourage you to take inventory of all the things the Lord has allowed you to accomplish or complete. He is such a faithful God always, when things are going well and even when they aren’t. He never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is at the helm!

At church, Tonio is teaching through the book of Revelation. We are almost to the last chapter… so exciting! One thing that continues to encourage me is this fact of God’s unchanging, perfect character. He says 4 different times in Revelation that He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I find so much comfort that He is in control.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” - Revelation 1:8
