January 2026 Reflection
Every time I do one of these monthly reflections, I am reminded why I love them. It helps me see the beauty in who God is, how He is so faithful and how He created me unique and beloved. I invite you to answer these questions for yourself. And yes, I know, I’m often late to the reflection party, but better late than never.
Here are the questions posed by the reflection guru Emily P. Freeman.
1. Over the last 30 days, what's something you read, saw, or heard that stopped you in your tracks?
2. Name one purchase you made in January that felt like you.
3. What is one core value you'll be leaning into in February?
1) This stopped me in my tracks.
Daphné with her friends. We were on our way to the tram to head into to town to celebrate Daphné’s 11th birthday. When I came back to this picture, I saw a Daphné that is no longer a little girl. I love her so much, and I love who she is becoming. She is a leader, a fighter, a feeler and so honest. I can’t believe I get to be her mama!
2) Something I bought that felt like me.
Tickets to a production called Stories. I had seen posters around town and wasn’t really sure what it was. All I knew was there was rap and tap dancing. That combo. Chef’s kiss. Tonio and I went and were not disappointed. More and more I appreciate experiences over things, so if you ever want to buy me a gift… wink, wink… tickets to a ballet, the theatre, an amusement park, a boat ride, a kite surfing lesson, a massage, a plane ticket… I’m a happy camper!
3) A core value guiding me into February.
Slowing down and paying attention. October through December were A LOT for me. So much, that my body surrendered. I crashed. Thankfully, I am surrounded by so many people who love me, and we rallied to help pull me out of the pit of depression. I’m thankful to now be on medication to help level the chemicals in my brain. I feel more like me, and I’m making an effort to slow down and pay attention to how my body is talking to me. God is such an amazing Creator, and I love how He cares about us as WHOLE beings. We are so intricately made, that even our body has built in warning lights and white waving flags to help us realize we are pushing it and it’s time to slow down. Deep inhale. Deep exhale. I love this moment above. I was able to enjoy the moment of Daphné enjoying God’s beautiful morning sky.
Thanks for reading. I hope you too, can reflect. It doesn’t have to be January or even February, but just looking back is such a good way to know how to move forward.
