10 Ways I Feel Like Myself
Have you ever heard of the Lazy Genius? Let me introduce you. Her name is Kendra Adachi, and she is a kind and encouraging voice. I have read all 3 of her books and listened to more than half of her 400+ podcast episodes. A recent episode, which you can listen to on her website or on apple podcasts, inspired this blog post.
What are 10 ways I feel like myself?
Kendra categorized them into 2 categories: what fills us up and what wakes us up. This actually really helped me realize how each thing affects me.
5 ways that fill me up:
1) Bodies of water : being next to one or in one. Oceans, seas, lakes, streams, rivers and waterfalls. Below, I am happy with my feet on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea.
2) Writing letters : physical letters with fun stationery, stickers and postage stamps. Below is my collection of stationery, stickers and stamps.
3) Reading. It has become a new passion as of the past few years, and I love it! Below are a few that I have enjoyed this year.
4) Creating with pictures : making blog posts (like this one) / designing photo albums online / writing prayer update emails. Below is a photo book I made to recap our family reunion at Disneyland last summer.
5) Encouraging others : in person, through a text, via email or physical letter. Below is a good reminder that we can all be encouraging others.
5 ways that wake me up:
1) Dancing : especially at weddings or in front of mirrors in a dance class. Below I’m dancing with my Uncle Chris at mine and Tonio’s wedding. My uncle was definitley making me laugh!
2) Singing : harmonies, melodies, Disney songs with Daphné and mostly worship to Jesus. Below I’m singing a duet for an end-of-the-year show when I did a singing class in 2023-2024.
3) Live shows or games : going to a ballet, a concert, the theatre or a sports match. Below Tonio came with me to Star Academy live in Nice. It was super fun!
4) Surfing : I can only do it every couple of years, but it refuels me. Below: the best is surfing with my dad and sister.
5) Roller coasters : l didn’t realize I was such a roller coaster junkie until I hadn’t been on one in over 15 years. I love them so much. The Incredicoaster and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad this summer reignited my passion! Haha! Below is me and my niece Rowyn on Big Thunder Mountain. We screamed and laughed the whole ride!
Thank you for reading this very personal and extremely helpful blog post. Some people know themselves better than others. For me, it’s a journey, and writing this all out helps me be thankful for who God made me and to embrace it! I hope you can take some time to listen to the podcast and brainstorm your list. Have fun!
