June 2024 reflection

1. In 5 words, how would you describe the June you’ve actually had?

2. When was a moment that felt the way you imagine June ought to feel?

3. What’s one way you will make room to be with this current, right-now version of yourself in July?

Again, these are NOT my questions. They come from a monthly email I receive from Emily P Freeman who wrote, “The Next Right Thing” and has a podcast with the same name.

Here are my answers:

1. The June I’ve actually had in 5 words.

  • Busy.

  • Magical.

  • Long.

  • Fulfilling.

  • Heavy.

2. A moment when June delivered.

A cool, evening summer walk with family and friends to see fireflies in the hills of Nice. It was a first for me, Daphné and Django. It felt magical. It felt easy and free. It felt spontaneous. It felt like summer.

Above - Django observes what the fireflies look like when they are not lit up. I love the wonder in his eyes. Thanks Papi Pierre for this photo!

3. One way I’m making room for my right-now self in July.

I have had many conversations with the Lord about my fatigue, and He continually reminds me in his Word that He is with me, that He is my strength in my weakness. As summer now begins for our family, I am making an effort to remember to be kind to myself. I am really good at making ‘me’ feel guilty or stressed, and I don’t want that to be the norm. I’d like to treat me like I treat my husband and kids and friends, with empathy and a hug.

May you experience peace from the PRINCE of PEACE today,

Love Linz
