Friends, Animals, Scarlet Fever - April 2024
April was interesting. We experienced Scarlet Fever with Daphné. Tonio was sicker than I’ve ever seen him before. So much so, he woke up on a Sunday morning and asked Pierre to teach with a couple hours notice. We also had to delay our leaving to visit family during the kids vacation. We made it in once piece, and we are thankful for God’s comfort and healing and presence through it all.
We also had a lot of fun. Take a look!
The whole family was invited to this birthday party, but just Django and I represented the family. It was the afternoon after the trail ride (from the previous post), so Tonio watched Daphné as she rested. This was a creative piñata approach. With no means to hang it, the dad simply had the kids jump and grab. There wasn’t much success, so…
He found a big stick! Haha! Look out!!! Django takes a whack!
Birthdays = candy. Django enjoyed making “Bonbon” eyes. Bonbon is French for candy.
The view from the park is exquisite!
Freeze tag. This is the safe zone, which is called “le camp” in French.
Django was the only boy, and he played so well with all the girls. He really enjoyed teaming up with the dad.
A tired Tonio, and a sick Daphné.
I had left to get groceries, and I came back to this scene. It looks like Django is babysitting and put them down for a nap so he could play with LEGO. =)
Daphné trotting on Kit Kate.
These are some of the girls in her horse class. They are all so sweet!
Tonio teaching God’s Word. I’m so thankful for him and his heart of love and truth.
“Look mama, I made a ray gun!” I love this boy. He is our carrot-celery-radish-bell pepper eating machine.
And I love this girl. She definitely chose fabulous today.
Eating with her buddy Lorenzo at his house.
We love our church family and hanging out with them. It was a birthday barbecue for one of the mamas.
Visiting Jazz and Jazz’ owners home. This is the kindest chihuahua I’ve ever met. And please note, I am NOT a chihuahua fan. Haha!
Petting another neighborhood favorite doggie named Harry. He is a sweetie, and his owners are the cutest elderly couple.
Daphné and her buddy Lorena chilling after church in the café with their refreshments.
This is the day we were supposed to leave Nice to start driving north to visit Tonio’s aunt and uncle near Grenoble. Since Tonio was so sick, we had to cancel that leg of trip. We were pretty bummed. We made the best of the day by going to the trampolines at the local park.
Cowabunga!
Her faces are priceless. I love that she’s afraid of the knight, not the dragon. Haha.
And our little space alien in perfect form.
That concludes April 2024. Next up is our trip to Paris at the beginning of May 2024.
