3 Questions for April ‘23

Ok, first of all, how in the world is it already May? I felt like January was a year long, and then February, March and April just slipped by. NUTS!!! Anyways, thanks for being here. I hope you enjoy reading my reflection posts as much as I like writing them.

Without further ado, here are the questions inspired by this month’s email I received from Emily P. Freeman :

  1. What was a proud moment in April?

  2. What’s something that made you laugh?

  3. What’s something you learned you don’t want to forget?

1. A proud moment in April.

Django has never really liked water in his face. Ever. Rinsing his head in the bath has been a challenge. So, when I signed him up for a week-long swim class, I was curious to see how it would go.

He cried the first day, BUT he mustered up the courage to finish the lesson. Then, we went back Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday AND Friday. My heart almost burst on Thursday night when he expressed how excited he was to go back to the pool again. I’m so proud of the progress he made in 5 days. He’s still not totally water-safe, but he is so much more comfortable and confident in the water. That’s a HUGE win! He’s proud of himself, too, which is so wonderful!

2. Something that made me laugh in April.

Tonio, Daphné and I went on a hike the Monday after Easter with a few other people from church, and with the iPhone’s new FITNESS app, it automatically counts how many flights of stairs we climb.

Later in the day after the hike, I texted Tonio the first image, a screenshot of my phone, with the message, “We climbed 174 flights of stairs.” He replied with the second photo, a screen shot of his phone, with the message, “ha. i beat you.” His snarky reply made me laugh out loud so hard!!! We walked the same distance up that mountain. Who knows why it’s different, but I loved his comeback, short and sweet, no capitals, no exclamation points, no emojis. Just raw Tonio. It’s so good to laugh. I love him.

3. Something I learned that I don’t want to forget.

Have you ever heard of a person having a color palette? Neither had I until I was introduced to Created Colorful. I hesitated for many weeks, but I finally bought myself a color consult as a belated birthday gift. And I’m so happy I did.

I learned that I am a Warm Spring. Many of the colors, I am not surprised by. I have always been drawn to turquoise, teals and pinks, but I am excited to embrace the oranges, browns and reds in my palette. This is information I will have for the rest of my life, and I’m so thankful! I don’t want to forget two things :

  • one, that I am a warm spring as I make different clothing choices and

  • second, that it’s okay to buy myself a birthday present. Enter giddy squeals. I really am super excited about this gift of knowledge.

Thank you all for reading. Have a lovely day.

Love Linz
