What’s saving my life?
It’s a question I’ve heard from Emily P Freeman from “The Next Right Thing” podcast and Kendra Adachi from “The Lazy Genius” podcast. Apparently the credit goes to Barbara Brown Taylor from her book “An Alter in the World : A Geography of Faith.”
I have 4 things to share :
1) The Daily Audio Bible App.
I typically read the Bible in the mornings, and with the darker, colder mornings, I have a harder time getting motivated. Enter this app. I read along while listening, and it’s just so amazing. First, God’s Word is simply life to me. Second, it follows my one-year Bible. And Brian Harden, who reads is so full of love and compassion. Truly a blessing. I highly recommend it. They even have a chronological reading, psalms, proverbs, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic and a kids section read by Brian’s son - it’s so sweet. I listen sometimes with the kids.
2) Christmas Gift List App.
You guys! Perhaps it’s too late for this year, but I use this Gift List Tracker ALL YEAR LONG. When someone mentions something they would like for a gift or if I just make observations about an interest, I type it in here. It looks complex and fancy - it’s not. It’s super easy to use. I LOVE it. It really helps at Christmas with gift count - I wouldn’t want Daphné to get 10 gifts and Django only 7 - aye caramba! It’s FREE too. I highly recommend it.
3) The art display track in our living room.
When we moved into our apartment in 2018, I knew I wanted this system for hanging art. Tonio was on it, had it ordered and installed in a jiffy. It’s been such a blessing, because I love moving things around. And it’s particularly wonderful at Christmas as you can see. The stockings are hung with no extra holes in the wall. The Merry Christmas banner drapes the corner. I was able to move the piece of art to the left to make room for the stockings. We bought this kit from amazon in France, but I’m sure there’s so many other options.
4) Hand cream and gloves at night.
I don’t have a picture of my cracked, dry hands, but I know you all know the struggle in the winter. Something I started doing about 2-3 times a week (after putting in my ear plugs of course) is slathering cream on my hands and putting gloves on and going to bed. I wake up with super soft hands - it’s pretty amazing. No particular cream or gloves to recommend. It’s just something that’s not necessarily saving my life but DEFINITELY my hands!
That’s all - thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed! I’m so thankful for the season of Jesus’ birth. What a celebration! Please enjoy my favorite song this Christmas! Welcome to Our World.
Merry Christmas! Love Linz
