Nature Week
The last week of June 2022, a class of 27 first graders loaded a big bus after saying good-bye to their parents. They headed for the hills, a place called Valberg, for a week of class in nature. Daphné was stoked. Other kids were too. Some were hesitant. No tears that I saw that morning. What an incredible opportunity for these 6-7 year-olds.
All packed and ready to head to the bus station. She didn’t forget to pack her sass.
Waiting in line to get on the bus.
Holding her friend, Alice’s, hand. They sat next to each other on the bus.
This is their teacher, Monsieur Lottier, checking off names as the kids load the bus. He is such an incredible teacher!
And now we wait to wave good-bye.
Me and Pierre joined a couple other parents standing on the seats of the bus stop to get a better view. We found Daphné and Alice.
Pierre got this great shot as we were all waving good-bye to our precious kiddos.
While in the mountains, their teacher kept of informed of all their adventures, along with pictures. Here they are studying insects and spiders. Daphné is holding a black water bottle looking in the other direction.
He said we would have all laughed if we heard their screams after seeing some of the bugs.
This was them ready to eat dinner. Daphné has a braid and is wearing turquoise, her back to the camera.
First night’s dinner menu : soup, potato and cauliflour casserole and flavored yogurt. When we saw this, we thought, “Oh boy, Daphné might go hungry this week.” Haha!!! Our kids definitely eat well, but different from the French.
Coloring while waiting for the next activity. She is with Emilie and Alice.
They were able to go on a hike before a huge storm hit. Daphné is in the middle where the gap is.
A little water break. She is making a funny face, black and white hat.
Another rest in the shade.
Daphné and some of her buddies. I don’t remember all their names.
And she’s back! She had a great week!
We thank the Lord for her school this year. It was a transition to leave her friends at the other school, but overall, the education and opportunities have far outweighed anything we could have expected.
We have filled out all the paperwork to get Django a spot for the next school year, but they said as of right now, there are none. We will continue to pray the Lord’s will be done. It’s logistically difficult to have them at different schools, but we trust the Lord knows best!
