January was strange
Hey everyone, just popping in to record a very bizarre January, partly because I want to find the positive. I have a tendency when stressed to see all the negative and plan for worst-case scenarios. I don’t like that part of myself, but I do like that I can recognize it and course correct. This blog is a public course correct. Haha!
Daphné and I soaking up some sun and fresh air. She was in the middle of a 3-day fever.
The lovely parts of January :
We had SUN for 30 out of 31 days; it only rained once. Amazing!
Tonton Sebastien, Tata Maïna, Noé and Nils flew down from Paris and surprised Daphné for her 7th birthday!
Daphné went to a trampoline park with her friend Tanya.
Cricri came for a visit.
I redeemed my hour-long facial gift certificate. (bliss.)
Daphné had a super fun birthday party with friends.
Tonio baptized two gals from church.
Cricri celebrated a pretty significant birthday.
Tonio was able to play soccer a few times.
I got to spend A LOT of precious time with our Django bud at home.
For FOUR DAYS in January, BOTH kids were at school at the same time. (I’ll take what I can get!)
Daphné tried on my glasses, which magnified her beautiful, sick eyes.
Below are the January school days and all the craziness. Here in France, there is no school on Wednesdays for pre-school and elementary kids, which is why you won’t see Wednesday included in the list. It’s the day kids do activities.
WEEK 1
Monday, 3 Jan - Django home all day, teacher sick, no replacement teacher.
Tuesday, 4 Jan - Django home all day, teacher sick, no replacement teacher.
Thursday, 6 Jan - Both kids at school all day!!! Yay!!!
Friday, 7 Jan - Both kids at school all day!!! Yay!!!
WEEK 2
Monday, 10 Jan - Django home in afternoon for speech therapy.
Tuesday, 11 Jan - Both kids at school all day!!! Yay!!!
Thursday, 13 Jan - Django home with fever; teacher on strike, so no school anyways.
Friday, 14 Jan - Django home with fever.
A tired little Django bud fell asleep on Papi and Mamie’s couch. This was just before his second round of fevers started.
WEEK 3
Monday, 17 Jan - Django home, still sick and 1 positive COVID case in his class.
Tuesday, 18 Jan - Django home sick (not COVID).
Thursday, 20 Jan - Django home in afternoon, teacher sick, no replacement teacher for the afternoon.
Friday, 21 Jan - Django home all day, teacher sick, no replacement teacher.
It’s so hard to see our kids sick. I can’t even imagine God’s heart when we (His kids) aren’t doing well. Such love.
WEEK 4
Monday, 24 Jan - Both kids at school all day!!! Yay!!!
Tuesday, 25 Jan - Daphné home in the morning, 1 positive COVID case in her class. Django at school all day. Daphné at school in afternoon after a negative COVID test.
Thursday, 27 Jan - Django home for just lunch, cafeteria strike.
Friday, 28 Jan - Daphné home with fever.
Still sick, Daphné was feeling a tiny bit better to play with some play-doh.
WEEK 5
Monday, 31 Jan - Django home with fever. Daphné goes back to school.
Tuesday, 1 Feb - Django home with fever.
Thursday, 3 Feb - Django home, no fever but exhausted and congested.
Friday, 4 Feb - (I’m posting this today Thursday, so I’m not sure yet what tomorrow Friday will bring.)
Django break dances to help break his fever as my punny father-in-law pointed out. Ha.
After looking over that list, I am not surprised why I am entering February as a pretty tired mama. I am definitely leaning on God’s strength. Tonio will teach Psalm 28 this Sunday, and I get to lead worship. I love this verse from Psalm 28.
“The LORD is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him.”
-Psalm 28:7
I pray God be your strength today,
Love Linz
