First few days in California
No long intro here except to say thank You Jesus for this time with my family and friends! My cup overfloweth!
As I mentioned at the end of the last blog post, we went to say hi to my grandmother, Daphné and Django’s great-grandmother Betty, after my parents picked us up from LAX. She recently had a stroke, so her vision was almost completely gone.
At 98 years-old, she’s still as stunning as ever. I’ve never seen her so fatigued though, but when we walked in the room, I announced, “The Frenchies are here Grandma,” and she beamed with joy. She was glad to have finally met the little red-headed Django =).
Here we all are with my parents as well, Tim and Kathy. I love how Grandma is looking at me, even if she can only see with blurry vision. She’s my most faithful pen pal, and I told her how much I enjoy receiving her letters. She said the same. I don’t know how much longer she will be with us, but I was so thankful for this visit. I know I’ll see her again in eternity with Jesus!
Daphné petting Remington (aka Remi). She asked me almost immediately after spending a few hours at Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tim’s house if we could move to California. She loves animals, that’s for sure. Our little 2-bedroom apartment in Nice is a blessing, but definitely not suited for animals, especially not horses on the 4th floor balcony - ha!
And here’s me with my sissy pants, Chelsey!!! It was so wonderful to hug this girl after 4-1/2 years… too long! I love you sis.
And my sister and I were both blessed with girls in 2015… here they are, Rowyn and Daphné. Our brother and sister-in-law also had a beautiful girl Eisley in 2015 who would be sitting in between these two. We will see her in heaven. We love you cousin Eisley and love you Tanner and Sarah.
Welcome to my childhood. Daphné is doing exactly what I did most of my life, slinging dung. Ha! It was my first job when I was in junior high school.
My mama and daddy opening gifts from Antibes, France - thank you Robie and Cricri!
My mom cleaning horse corals. Django playing down in the dirt. My dad driving the Gray Ghost. And Daphné riding like royalty. Living the dream.
Learning the art of washing cars with Grandpa Tim (<— where Django gets his middle name, Django Timothy).
Walking to the park down the street. The kids know how to ride in style.
Her chariot.
And this girl! Julie and I have been friends since before I have memories… I think I was 4 and she was 3 when our families became friends. We’ve been pen pals through everything… She had 3 kids since I last saw her. Boy is it good to see you. I love you Jules!!!
Speaking of friends, here’s one that is basically my older sister. Crystal and I have been friends since 2000 ~ we went to the same university. My family has adopted her and her boys as part of the family. I love you Craaaaaaaastal!!!
Cousin Rowyn was so sweet to share her horseback riding lesson with Daphné. Here they are with Buttercup.
And back at the ranch at Grandma and Grandpa’s, Rowdy and Django played on the shavings bags that were just delivered.
Stay tuned for a post on our beach house vacation. Thanks for being here!
Love Linz
