Celebrating Forty (Feb 21st)
This is what the day looked like. I’m so very thankful to be 40. It’s like what my cousin Lisa wrote to me in my birthday card, “I’m 20 on the inside, but you must respect me as 40!” I love that.
Flowers from our loving and thoughtful Tata Cricri and Tonton Robie delivered by Pierre and Nancy. Such a happy color combo.
At church, me and another gal Ellie (who was also born on February 21st) put together goodie bags for everyone to celebrate our birthday! They were a hit! People laughed when I handed them out, like wait, it’s your birthday, you’re supposed to receive the gifts, not give them. HAHA!
Then, we had a family birthday lunch at our home after church. Chicken tortilla soup. Thanks mama for the recipe!
I’m so excited that I still have half of it frozen in the freezer. Yum!
And my wonderful husband and in-laws made my dream a reality. I didn’t want a birthday cake; I wanted donuts!!! I got donuts!!!
Django enjoyed the suction of the fun-shaped glass.
Daphné is trying out the new guitar case Tonio bought for me. It’s so great that it doesn’t weigh as much as my current case. SO. MUCH. EASIER. to carry!
My gift-unwrapping elves.
This picture is priceless (thanks for snapping it Pierre)… Daphné’s face of pure joy in watching me open up jewelry that she picked out with Tonio.
Sunglasses from sunny California. Thanks mama and papa!
Hat from my friend Julie. How did you know?!!!
Django gave it a whirl.
And this one… so fun. This was actually my niece’s hat, Rowyn. I have a small head. Yep.
Sometimes, the best gifts are the homemade wrapping.
Django eating part of one of my gifts.
And this was the next day. A junior high kid from church invited me to surf. I hadn’t gone since September 2018. The conditions were not great. I had fun getting wet. I stood up once. Got to my knees twice. And paddled like a maniac trying to fight the current and the wind. It was cold. I was tired. And I was so happy!!! Best thing to do for my first day of being 40.
I also received so many fun cards in the mail, texts, emails… thank you to everyone. And perhaps, you sent something, and it hasn’t yet arrived. Thank you all! This is the verse that Ellie and I put on our goodie bags for everyone at church :
“This is the day that the Lord has made;
I will rejoice and be glad in it!” -Psalm 118:24
Amen, Love Linz
