September Reflection

Hi everyone, the last time I wrote a reflection post was back in May, and I realized that I miss them, so here we go. Once again, these questions are inspired by Emily P. Freeman, who has a podcast and a book called, “The Next Right Thing.” Her podcasts have really helped me slow down and create space in my soul to breath (<-one of her mottoes). Wow, I just learned that pluralizing the word motto adds an ‘e’ like pluralizing tomato. HAHA! Always learning, aren’t we? Enjoy the questions and my answers. Ask yourself these questions too, go ahead!

1) In the month of September, what’s one thing your body told you?

2) Have you witnessed the feminine heart of God?

3) What are you looking forward to in October?

1) One thing my body told me in September.

One day I picked up Django from school and ended up carrying him part way home with my right arm. Nothing happened in the moment, but that night, I was lifting two little meat patties from the freezer to the counter, and zing!!!!!

I had to lay down on the floor on the living room. Something wasn’t right. Tonio and I were even talking about when we should go to the emergency room. After ice and heat packs and talking to my sister who is a doctor (thanks sissy pants!), we decided I had what is called “impingement syndrome.” Nothing crazy. It just means I need to make muscles by doing certain exercises.

It is still sore, but I realized that my body was telling me to get stronger. I have joined a gym and have already felt the difference. Cheers to having a strong body.

2) Bearing witness to the feminine heart of God.

I love this question, but I didn’t have an immediate response, so I first looked up a Bible verse that helps portray this part of God’s heart. It’s just one of many. Psalm 91:4 “He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.”

One of my aunts passed away in September, very unexpected. As I cried her loss and grieved for my uncle and the family, I felt God wrap His feathers around me as a mama bird wraps her wings around her young to protect them and comfort them. His mothering heart was close to me, and I’m so thankful my God is both strong and compassionate, powerful and empathetic, just and gracious. I love Him. And to my dear Uncle, if you read this, I am praying God be your comfort as you miss your beautiful wife everyday.

3) One thing I’m looking forward to in October.

I’m going to be rebellious. I can’t pick JUST one. I have to share two. I’m going to Torino, Italy all by my onesies to spend 5 days in the middle of October with my friend Denae. We are retreating to the mountains to just enjoy God’s creation and encourage one another and have fun. Her husband is also a pastor of a Calvary Chapel, so it’s really refreshing to have her in my life. She understands me =). In advance, thank you Tonio and Pierre and Nancy for taking care of the kiddos!

Aaaaaandddd, Tonio and I celebrate 11 years of marriage this month, October 30th. We don’t have plans yet, but we usually take a little getaway for 2 nights to invest in our marriage. So important. Perhaps it will happen early November. In either case, I’m excited to celebrate with my best friend. I sure do love him.

That’s all for now. I hope you enjoyed. I don’t know about you, but reflection really helps me feel like a human being. When I don’t reflect or remember or look back, I feel robotic. So, I will continue reflecting and learning from past moments.

Love Linz
