6 Years Old
We thank the Lord for our beautiful Daphodil! What a gift and a blessing she is to our family and to everyone she knows. We call her our joy bomb for good reason. She explodes joy everywhere she goes. January 9th, 2015 was an incredible day. Tonio and I became parents to this amazing human being. We are humbled and thank Jesus. Enjoy some photos of celebrating her life.
I present to you the 6 year-old who now can tell people how old she is on TWO hands.
A little pre-game gift opening.
We are ready to welcome her two friends for her little party.
And literally 2 minutes in, and this dance party ensued.
They are breathing hard as they take a dance break to pose, Saféya, Daphné and Tanya.
Awaiting the meal. We went big with fish sticks and pasta. I’m always impressed by the French education. These girls ate their fish sticks with a fork and knife, cutting when necessary. Daphné, poor thing, is raised by an American mom. Finger foods anyone? HA!
Meanwhile, Django got to play with Mamie and Papi downstairs. Lucky guy!
Thanks Auntie Kellee and Uncle Mark for the Funfetti cake mix. Thank you Tata Cricri and Tonton Robie for the fun candles. And a special thanks to Picard, our local frozen food store, for the yummy chocolate cake and 2 galettes des rois.
Don’t you love here sparkly dress? Thanks R&C!
It took two breaths. I bet birthday cake candle blowing out will have to be re-thunk (<-is that a word?) until the whole planet is vaccinated. Such interesting times.
Gifts!
Thank M&K for these fun doll clothes!
At the cinéma, watching “Over the Moon” in French (“Voyage Vers la Lune”).
One of the girls’ mamas took this shot. Their 3 little heads are so cute.
We had a tattoo parlor and a nail salon.
And the next day at church, Daphné got another celebration at Sunday school.
The fun part of Daphné’s birthday is that it’s always during the season of the King’s Cake (galette des rois). So we eat many around this time. She likes it, because she has the opportunity to win the “fève”, which is a tiny ceramic figurine hidden in the cake. Since it’s usually around her birthday, even if someone else wins it, they often give it to Daphné. She has a little collection of about 10+ from the past year or two.
Just one candle this time.
There is the “fève” - it was a little gingerbread man. I think she actually legit won this one. Her friend Eméraude is happy for her.
After church, we went to get some sandwiches and another galette des rois to celebrate at home with our family and Mamie and Papi. Our friend who works at the bakery gave the kids lollipops. He won some big brownie points with them.
Here we are at home for birthday celebration number 3! And there is still a box in the mail from Grandpa Tim and Grandma Kathy, my parents. Oh boy. We like slow mail, because it keeps the celebration going. Except for when the boxes go missing, like the one my mom sent in August 2020 for Django’s birthday and is still M.I.A. It probably found a lovely nook in Paris with a view of the Eiffel Tower and is quite happy. Perhaps it will show up one of these days.
Thanks for enjoying some birthday festivities with us. I can now rest… Thanksgiving, Christmas and Daphné’s birthday are fun when they’re here and nice when they’re over. I need a few months to recover. Hehe!
Love Linz
