August 2026. For these posts, I usually put 20 pictures that overview the month. Since August was so packed with other fun evens that have their own posts, I found 17 worthy to share. So, enjoy these 17 photos from August that took place around the festival Ciel en Fête, Django’s hike with Tonio, Django’s 9th birthday and our trip to Ronco Canavese, Italy.
Beach picnics with church family continued every Friday evening from June to August. Here is Nancy, Ben, Tonio, Greg, Django, Daphné and Marlène.
Being home all summer, the kids played a lot more than when they are in school. So, naturally, their desks were filled. Daphné took much pride in cleaning her desk. She asked for my phone and took these pictures. She is so fun!
I can’t remember if I was sick or maybe tired or if Django was sick. In either case, I was thankful to follow along with Tonio’s teaching on Sunday.
I keep a huge calendar on the kids’ door. It’s fun for them to know what’s coming up and to see what they did. I just use big sheets of paper and try to make straight-ish lines, then I flip it over and use the other side. They really enjoy being informed, and it keeps them from having to ask me and Tonio what we are doing.
This quote by Charles Spurgeon, “I have learned to kiss the waves that throw me up against the Rock of Ages,” made a huge impact on me. Waves can be unstable and scary (also fun if you surf…wink…wink), but when they push us closer to our God it’s hard not to be thankful for them.
We visited the big library with Mamie and Papi. Django introduced Papi Pierre to this super fun magnetic soccer game in the game room.
Daphné and I taught Mamie Nancy the game Color Addict. It’s so much fun, fast and hilarious. If you don’t have it, I highly recommend it!
Papi took Django to one of his eye appointments. They don’t have ANY fun together (haha!).
We often would visit Pierre and Nancy to benefit from their air conditioned home. We sizzled all summer on the 4th floor, so it was nice to have some relief. Thanks guys! Here Django and Mamie play with a balance game that Django loves.
Our friends Edgar, Hector and Béryl visited, so we enjoyed the sea with them. Tonio is out teaching the other kids how to use the paddle board while Daphné coaches and helps Django catch waves.

More time with Mamie and Papi!
The dad behind me was part of Calvary Chapel Nice way back in 1999/2000. His family came to visit Nice, and we took a picture at church together.
I had to share this. My sister bought two Great Pyrenees puppies, named Comet and Captain. They are playing with my nephew Rowdy. I so wish I could teleport to squish all three of them! By the time we visit them next, I’m sure they will be HUGE!

Back in May, the kids and I were able to be a part of a music video for the Italian project Più Forte. It released at the end of August. The song is number two on the second project “Ma Cercate.” The song is from Matthew 6:33, “Seek first God’s Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you.” Above is a screen shot from the video around minute 1:16. Can you see me, Django and Daphné?
Here Daphné stole an ice cream cone from the main girl. Django is telling her off that stealing is wrong. This is found around minute 1:44.

We are thankful for a very full and very fun month of August. And mostly, we are thankful to God who gives us such amazing family and friends.
