Back-to-school 2025-2026

Daphné and Django both started school at 3 years-old. That’s how it works here in France. So, Tonio and I have walked through an accumulation of 14 back-to-school days between the two of them. That’s a lot. They are never easy.

There is always a lot of prep on my end to make sure they have all their supplies and clothes and shoes, etc. Emotionally, it’s a nervous day for all of us, but it’s so good. We are all ready for it after a summer of fun and no schedule. School provides a little exhale for us all, probably mostly for me as a creature who thrives within the confines of structure. We are so proud of these two and the kind students and great friends they are at school. Enjoy the first day! September 1st, 2025.

Ready for the day.

This guy is such a hard worker. He will be doing the 2nd grade curriculum this year, though he is technically in 3rd grade. It looks like he will do 3rd grade next year. So thankful the school is able to meet him right where he’s at to help him grow and learn as a person. You go Django!

This year, Daphné is the oldest of the primary school. She is the oldest in her class too, and she loves it! We are so proud of how much she applies herself in listening in class and reading. Her motivation to do her homework by herself is also a huge blessing for everyone. You go Daphné!

And in typical Nice fashion, it rained on the first day of school, just in the beginning. It’s like the sky is grieving saying good-bye to summer.

Daphné will be with her teacher Madame WURTZ again this year! She is so wonderful!

And Django gets to be with his teacher Madame GIMEL again for the 3rd year in a row. She has been his biggest advocate and support in helping him get on the best learning track for him. We are so thankful!

Alice, Romy and Daphné will be in the same class again together.

Here is Django in class with his buddies Mathieu, Amaury and Aaron.

Django’s class made Salvador Dali and Frida Kahlo renditions of themselves. Madame GIMEL is so fun and creative!

Our little Django Dali.

And that wraps up their first day back to school. We pray the Lord fills them with His peace, courage, joy and love as they learn as students and friends and siblings.

Love Linz
