What worked in 2024

Enjoy a fun little list in no particular order of things that worked for me this year. It is not comprehensive by any means, but gives a few highlights.

Downtime on my phone from 21h to 7h. Sleep is essential for a healthy Lindsey. This helped make that a priority. Basically all my apps except messages from Tonio turn off in that window of time. It keeps me off my phone before bed.

Reading before bed. It helps me wind down from the day. See what I read in 2024 HERE. (The kids chose the above photo - no, we do not have a dog.)

Loop ear plugs. I sleep with them every night, and they are great. They stay in my ears, and it’s so much better than throwing away so many orange or purple disposable kinds that only work for a week or so.

Period underwear. Instagram fed me these ads for two years, and I finally got some. I didn’t believe they would work, and I was wrong. They have made my period so much more comfortable. I bought a brand called Fluxelle, but I know there are so many out there that work great too. [Note - do not tumble dry or use fabric softener - they lose their absorbancy. For me, this is no problem, since we don’t have a dryer and don’t use fabric softener.]

Neck massager. I asked for this for Christmas, and my French Tata got it for me early. I use it everyday, and it’s heavenly.

Epsom salt baths. Reading this list, you could probably guess I’m in my 40s - hahaha!!! But seriously, baths and me are GREAT friends. I watch a movie or read, and I love it! It’s one of the only ways for me to truly relax in my own home.

Vocal exercises. I took a singing class from September 2023 to June 2024. Having the class weekly was good accountability to do my voice exercises. It helped strengthen my voice for leading worship, which was such a blessing. Unfortunately, I haven’t continued since June, but it’s nice to know that a stronger voice is just a few weeks away if I am disciplined.

Favorite Movie - The Arrival. Wow. I know I’m late to the game as always, but wow.

Favorite Kid movie - Trolls Band Together. What can I say? N’sync and a shout out to all boy bands of my childhood - so good!

Favorite Book - It’s a tie between Boundaries and When Faith Fails. See my book reviews.

Favorite Podcast - The Popcast with Knox and Jamie. Their tagline is “Educating you on things that entertain, but do not matter.” For me, I need a podcast to be somewhat light-hearted and mindless. This is just that and makes me laugh so hard!!!

Favorite Music - Jon Foreman’s new album, In Bloom, really blessed me.

That’s all for now, and I’m sure I will think of more as soon as I hit “publish.” Haha!

Love Linz
